NaMoBlo ... NaPoNoBlo ... NaPoNaMo ... NaWhat?

NaBloPoMo November 2014 Today is November 1.

This means that today the amount of pink stuff, commercials, letters in the mail to get my yearly mammogram, etc, should slow to a trickle.

Today also marks the beginning of the month in which so many will focus on what they are thankful and grateful for. While I do not post something each day, I do enjoy reading what other people share. I think it's a good thing.

And of course, today marks the start of NaBloPoMo, which is being coordinated by Blogher once again.

I know, my blog post title is a mess. It's because I can't actually say NaBloPoMo correctly if I say it out loud. I can type it slowly, but only by saying National Blog Posting Month very slowly in my head. And even then, it's a 75/25% split on if I'll write it correctly on the first try. It doesn't help that my spell checker wants to change it to abominable.

So, here I go, jumping in to participate for the third year in a row. Of course in the middle of the month I will hate that I dived in. I will think writing every day is just too hard and wonder what the heck am I doing. But when I finish I will be mostly glad I finished (though I will cringe at some of the posts I share on those days when I just have no clue what to write about it!).

It's good. I don't post everyday around here any other time for a reason: it's hard to come every day, sometimes there is nothing to say, sometimes there is a lot to say but I can't quite put it into words yet, and there is a time factor.

Not that writing a blog post is like sitting down to write a novel for me (for some people, it is, one post might become a chapter, a story, a part of a bigger novel which is pretty amazing!). But it's still time. And I don't want to post drivel. And about November 20 I will wonder if I can just get away with sharing a picture and calling it a day!

But, at the end of the month, it's a good thing. It gets creative juices flowing, it holds me accountable to post on a regular basis around here just one month a year.

Now, I have to tell you, I decided I would participate this year a few weeks ago. I had fully intended to sit down and have a few blog posts ready to go: all nicely written, spell-checked, re-read for errors, you know, nice and polished.

What I've actually completed is nothing. Not a thing! Maybe that will make it more fun for you as a reader. Maybe it will be more painful as I write about the lint on the floor one desperate night at 11:59pm because it will be midnight soon and I have nothing to write about!!!!!

So here we go. Time to take what I hope will be a really fun ride. There might be moments in the middle where I am unsure and screaming GET ME OFF THIS THING! but I hope that as this ride pulls up to the end I will be smiling and thinking yep, it was worth it!

  1. I am dipping my toe in again this year. Hopefully I won't fall off the bandwagon a few days in.
