So today is my birthday.
We mostly celebrated yesterday - and we had a great day! First we did some bowling. Then we took the kids to see Gnomio and Juliet.
My mom made (the most delicious ever) baked spaghetti for my birthday dinner. Her, my dad and two sisters came over. I got the BEST gift ever (okay, everyone just being here to love me was the best, but you know!)
Here's a bit of a close-up
We really did have such a great day!
(a picture taken by my 5 year old - so cute!)
And 32 - I'm ready to jump in, feet first. So beware! I'm here and ready to go! =)
Happy Birthday beautiful!! LOVE the shirt! *hugs*
ReplyDeleteI love that shirt! It's fabulous. :)
ReplyDeleteA very happy birthday to you!
Hi Brandie -- happy birthday! I'm visiting by way of Adventures in Babywearing.
ReplyDeleteYou and I are the same age and we both have moms who had breast cancer. My mom was just 27, which made me about 3 years old, and my sister was 18 months. I really don't remember that much about it (except a funny story about a wig) but since I've been old enough to be aware of it, I thank God that my mother beat breast cancer and I grew up with her in my life.
I'm so glad to read about how vigilant your gynecologist was. My mother was diagnosed only because my father insisted on a second opinion. The GP dismissed the lump they'd found because of her age.
Anyway, my mom survived, and your mom survived, and there are many of us who will be sending you our good energy to help make sure you beat the damned cancer, too!
Fight on, sister!
LouCeeL said for me to come and say 'Hi' and 'Happy Birthday!'
ReplyDeleteYour Mom certainly picked a winning shirt for you!! Be well and I am glad to have met you!!
Happy Birthday! That shirt is fabulous, go get em, girl!

ReplyDeleteA very happy belated birthday to you! I love the shirt! I love the smiles!
ReplyDeleteI come by to bring strength and hope. I believe that there is much power in this universe and it seems your strength is positive ... remembering even through difficult times that you are not alone and that you can do this, but also allowing yourself to feel. You are a journey of life and together we all do the best we can!
I send strength and hope with much loving kindness to you and your family.

ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! And still praying for you! :)
ReplyDeleteHi there. Lou sent me over to say hello...
ReplyDeleteHey, my BFF went through a bilateral mastectomy at 29 (two years ago). She went through an aggressive several round of chemo, lost her hair, was miserable when the chemo happened, and before we knew it, she was through it. She's got incredible new boobies and well... she survived it with flying colors.
I can't speak entirely for her, but I think there were two things that really helped: publicly sharing with her friends what it was that she was going through - the details, the pains, the sickness, and her attitude. She never once made out like she wouldn't survive it.
Yeah, she still has to be on top of her health, and it was pretty sucky to lose her hair back then... she did take it upon herself to wear all kinds of fun wigs to get her through. And before it all fell out, she gave herself a mohawk.
What I'm trying to say is that she made the best of the situation. If you are ever interested in connecting with her, I will gladly pass along your email address. Sometimes it's just good to talk to someone who _really_ empathizes and can shine hope on the situation.
All my love and light to you,
Miss Ash

ReplyDeleteHappy Bithday! I dont know you and you dont know me but I want to tell you you have a tough road ahead but you can do it. My mom, who is 77, just finished her radiation after finishing her chemo after her "surgery". She is doing great and made through everything rather well. She still works, has good family and good friends and that is what got her through it all. Plus she loved everyone on her medical team. Chin up - it sucks - bit with the right people in your life you will be olkay!!
ReplyDeleteCame over from Lou's blog. Good luck and go get 'em!!! Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way.
ReplyDeleteHi Brandie!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I'm here because Steph mentioned you today on Adventures in Babywearing....I wish you the best in your journey towards beating cancer.
I'll be praying for you and your family.
Prayers for you and your family as you go though this journey of C. My best friend went though this same thing at a a young age too. Happy to say she is still with me after more than 30 years post surgery. So keep the faith.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! That shirt rocks!
ReplyDeleteI just back read a few posts, and I have to say I am extremely in awe of how well you are handling this. As well as how great your medical team has been. I remind my friends to do breast checks, I think so many of them assume because we're in our 20's it's not an issue. It can be, though, so better safe than sorry.
Praying for you on this journey.
I'm here via Lou. I don't often comment, as Lou will confirm, but here I am. Thinking of you today, and sending lots of love your way... x.

ReplyDeleteLove the shirt. Happy Birthday. Sending lots of prayers this week.

ReplyDeleteHi, Brandie. I'm here by way of LouCeeL's blog to wish you a happy birthday and to tell you that your mom was right on with that shirt. That's the attitude to have.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter Lisa was diagnosed at age 33 (while pregnant), and she gave the fight everything she had (including both breasts and ovaries), along with a ton of attitude. And like you will, she won. She's five years cancer-free now. I am totally convinced that the sentiment on your new shirt is the best attitude you can have.
So go kick ass, Brandie. As Lisa said one time, you may have cancer, but cancer doesn't have you.
All the best.
Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday and my thoughts are with you! Hugs from my family (I have 7 biological, 4 foster and one grandson so that is lots of hugs)to yours!!!!

Sweet regards from Helene in Norway
Today, the earth undergoes a change. Our dear niece has surgery and it is turning the world upside-down. Yes, surgeries happen everyday, but this is different. An unwelcome invader has appeared on the scene and today she sends that foreigner back to the pit. The fight she must endure today is gut-wrenching because it is a fight against body, mind, and spirit. Therefore, dear Brandie, we come along side and offer our prayers. We likewise offer ourselves in the weeks and months ahead during the healing process.
ReplyDeleteHey Brandi! LOVE the shirt!! LOVE your spirit! I am walking the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer this year....for YOU!!! Hugs to you today and everyday!! Sue
