Some ideas ....

Since I've been doing not much the last few days, I have had ample time to plan projects I will work on when I am feeling better (good news though - it's not strep but I'm taking antibiotics so I should be a-okay for my little overnight this weekend!!)

First of all, you know how I love my cloth napkins? Well, maybe you don't know it yet, but let me tell you I do. I just love them. And I cam across these embroidered napkins and oh my - I will have to add something similar to my cloth napkin basket!

Next up - colored jars. Because I also love jars (yes, I did buy blue ball jars at a garage sale last year just because they were blue and I thought they were gorgeous! And also, one of my sisters did tease me about it!) but these jars are gorgeous - so this year I will be searching garage sales just for plain old clear jars so that I can turn them into this:

I found this idea over at Gingerbread Snowflakes and I just think they are lovely. There is a complete tutorial over there - so if you think these are as gorgeous as I do, click on over and learn how to make them. It really looks simple. And I can't wait to dress up my table and possibly the deck with some of these. And yes, we have started a new tradition of having candlelight on our dinner table almost every night, so it will be nice to have some new candle holders!

I would like to knit myself this:

It's from the newest issue of Knitscene - which I did treat myself too a few weeks ago. I know summer is coming up and it's not exactly summer wear - but if I knit it over the summer, it will be ready to go this upcoming fall!

I've also got some sewing books checked out for the library that I am excited to make some things out of!

And also, I'm thinking of mixing some of hte great patterns at Urban Threads with a few of these

for some baby gifts I need to start working on. Which will seriously be a lot of fun for me to work on!

Voice-less

I am currently voice-less.
This has my 4 year old cracking up every time I try to talk to him. Also, he won't kiss me because "mommy, when someone has sickness it's wery bad to kiss cause then I might get sickness too and I would be wery sad."
My 7 year old now only whispers to me. Which completely cracks me up.
My 10 year old just shrugs.
I have spent more time sleeping since Saturday than I have awake.

However, every time husband suggests that I, you know, maybe go visit our doctor. I insist I am NOT sick. Or at least not very sick. Certainly not sick enough to have to visit the doctor. And now, now I am voiceless. Never mind the fact that we are supposed to go see the Harlem Globetrotters on Thursday or that I am supposed to go away overnight this weekend - for the first time without my family in over 4 years and the second time ever since being married?

Hmmm ... it just might be time to go to the doctor tomorrow afterall.

Fabric!

This week I've done some fabric shopping! The first pile is fabric from an unexpected place! It is a pile of tablecloths, curtains, blankets, sheets, and pillow cases. This fabric came from Goodwill - where we stopped to look for some other things. But all of this jumped out into my hands so I had to buy it! LOL! All of it will be transformed into something different. I'm very excited about this!



Then it was off to the fabric store to pick up some fabric, which netted me this pile.



And last but not least, is this one fabric - bought at Joanns. This is my splurge buy. I didn't find this fabric until we were at the cutting counter, where the woman next to me was buying it. When she finished, I asked them to please pass the bolt to me. I loved it from the first moment I saw it. I couldn't pass it by. It has my heart. The other things I will be making, well, they won't be for me and will hopefully leaving the house soon, but this fabric - this fabric is all for me and will be staying with me!



Of course the trick now is to find the time to sit and sew!
